Emergency First Aid at Work

Course Rationale

This new 1 day course allows attendees to act as workplace first aiders in regulatory terms. It is appropriate where the risk assessment determines that a full First Aid at Work award may not be necessary. No previous first aid experience is required to attend this course. Offices andSchools are generally regarded as low risk environments in first aid terms, and this award is therefore appropriate in most instances.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for people who need / want to receive training in emergency first aid for low risk work places. Or for people interested in gaining a better understanding and skills in Emergency First Aid

Course Content

On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
    • the importance of preventing cross infection;
    • the need for recording incidents and actions;
    • use of available equipment;
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation cpr;
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)..

Assessment and Certification

This is a continuous assessment throughout the day and will be certificated by ITC.

Booking a Course

We can run in-house training at your venue for groups of any size.

You simply need a room large enough to not only seat everyone but also to allow them to lie on the floor and be rolled around without bumping into furniture or each other.
