Technical outdoor watches, dead? Or dead good?
I recently stumbled upon Elliot Brown watches after a friend of mine Stephanie (Spring PR) took on the role of marketing their brand. Elliot Brown's focus is to make watches smart enough to wear with any suit and strong enough to accompany you on any outdoor pursuit. This got me thinking, with the introduction of smart phones and the ever improving apps where do technical outdoor watches fit in?
Suunto, Polar and Garmin have always led the market in technical, innovative watches, packed with more features than a swiss army knife, but do we ever use these features and if so what for?
I have owned a technical outdoor watch for over 10 years and the only time I have used the altimeter is to show my non-outdoor friends how cool my watch is, most of the time I forget I have this feature, so what does my all dancing, all singing, technical watch do for me?..... It tells me the time. Maybe this is because I don't know how to use it...
