You often read stories of entrepreneurs who came up with their million-pound idea over a couple beers with friends. That’s not us. You even hear those feel-good stories about college roommates or best friends who started a company together.  That’s not us either.

We came together because we believed what we could do with Strong Roots Training would represent a shift in how people perceive training.  You see, training is not just a day out of work sitting in a room bored, being talked at by a person in a polo shirt... It is about getting involved, feeling part of the day and giving as much as you can.

Here at Strong Roots Training we pride ourselves in fun, dynamic, inclusive and professional training.  We are a UK based company offering courses from first aid to navigation skills. All of our trainers are well versed in their skills and come from a variety of backgrounds from teaching to outdoor management.

Anthea My background is Aviation. I joined the Strong Roots team after the collapse of Monarch Airlines. For 18 years I was lucky enough to travel the world as Cabin crew. I didn’t have the luxury of calling 999 and speaking to the call handlers, I had to deal with many first aid and safety situations in a different environment onboard an aircraft. From fainting to heart attacks. With 12 years senior Cabin crew experience I was able to pass on my knowledge as a Trainer and On-board Coach, teaching brand new Cabin crew Safety Emergency Procedures and First aid. I believe in excellent customer service, treating others how you would want to be treated and of course always with a smile. On my days off you’ll most probably find me at my local Crossfit gym lifting weights or enduring a wolf run or tough mudder. After all that spending time relaxing with my family and cheering our son on at the sidelines of a Rugby or Football pitch.

Skippy I am a UK mountain leader and I’m passionate about spending time in the hills and mountains. I have been lucky enough to have worked at outdoor centres in the UK and Switzerland and I’m now part of the Strong Roots Training team. I’m also a qualified youth worker so can link the training that we deliver to working with young people in the outdoors. I love to ski and snowboard and currently work part time at the indoor ski slope in Manchester, keeping my first aid skills sharp as a safety patroller.

Suzanne I taught Maths & Physics in secondary schools for over 20 years in Birmingham and in Lancashire and became a Local Authority Educational Visits Adviser in 2008. I have many years experience in leading offsite visits and in running EVC, First Aid and Visit Leader training courses, amongst others. I am a walker and a kayaker but only for pleasure. I’m not skilled enough to be a trainer in those areas! I have been a member of the Outdoor Education Advisers' for 10 years and served on the executive board of the Panel for six years, four of those as the national Secretary.

EMMA B I have been with the Strong Roots Team since 2016 and my work covers all things related to Client Services, I am very fortunate in that I love my job! I really enjoy spending time in the countryside and being with my husband, children and puppy. I have completed two walking ultra-marathons, (100k) although I've been told I can't dine out on that forever so am casting about for something else... I am in my final year at university, studying Counselling and Psychotherapy, I find it helps with all of the above!
